Free PHP Script: Maian Support

Introduction:

This idea came about when I couldn`t find a ticket system that had all the features I wanted. Its evolved into a fairly effective support solution for many people who want to offer a ticket system for their business. I started playing around with some Ajax functions in this script. I don`t understand Ajax, but its fun to mess around with. The live support idea I got from the Ladbrokes website in the UK. I thought it might be useful, so I added that option too. Enjoy!

Add seperate support area departments
Add individual users to each department
Grant users one of 3 permission types
Knowledge Base (Optional)
File Attachment (Optional)
Set allowable file types and max size for attachment
Auto cron function to close unanswered tickets after certain time
Auto zip attachments (Optional)
Easily change ticket status and other ticket options
Edit/delete replies
Option for support people to contact each other via admin area
Ability to search ticket database
Template driven system utilising the Savant2 template engine
Utilises BB code in ticket comments
Tickets show response time between posts in days, hrs & mins
No user login required to view or create tickets
Adds database prefix for people with only 1 database
Live Support Module (Optional)
Add user signatures to appear at the bottom of all tickets
Enable/disable e-mail notification for users
Ability for admin to go straight to ticket after log in to save time
Administrators can view users response times at a glance
Captcha code implementation for spam prevention
Time offset feature
Merge ticket to another ticket with optional notification
Ban filters (Optional)
Admin tools to purge old tickets/attachments older than specified time
Permanently close tickets that visitor cannot re-open
SMTP mail settings

Requirements/Testing Environments:

PHP v4.3.0 or higher.
GD2 Graphics Library with Freetype support for captcha display.
Javascript enabled browser for Knowledge Base, Admin Menu & Live Support Modules.

Browser testing: IE7, Opera 9.01, Firefox 2.0.0.1
Local Server Testing: Apache server running PHP v5.2.0, MySQL 5.0.27-nt
Production Server Testing: Apache server running PHP v4.4.1, MySQL 4.0.25-standard
