Re: Show your Maian Greetings Site!

@NachtPoet,

great you`ve choosen this product.

I would only suggest to use a max of 4 thumbnails per row and not 5 like you`re using now.
Also use a default max-width for you thumbnails and e-card images.

Now your website pages become over a width of 1000pixels.
There are still users who work in a screen-resolution of 1024x768. If these visitors now come to your website they get a horizontal scrollbar because some of your ecard-images are to width and you use to large thumbnails (or to many thumbs per row)

Other people (like me) won`t have these problems because they work with larger screen-resolutions.

Approx 35% of the visitors still work in a resolution of 1024x768.
So maybe it`s an good idea, I`m only saying this as an advice, to resize some of your images for this category of visitors.

Re: Show your Maian Greetings Site!

Hi Martin,

thanks for your reply and advice.

Reduced the Tumbs to 4 a row as suggested. I resized the Frame to 1000px width, so that should be no problem? Some cards are a bit too large right now... just imported all of them from my old script, where the size wasn't a problem. Will do some resizing later on.

Oh, btw, small question, is there an easy way to put the message the user enters for the card he likes to send under the card instead of the right side? As most of my cards have rather large poems printed on them, and making them too small would make the poem hard to read, I sometimes need them to be about 800px width, and putting the mesage under the card would help making room for them.

Re: Show your Maian Greetings Site!

Nice site and glad you like my script. smile

Its not easy to edit the current version. Thats not to say v3.0 will be any easier because its a big system. At least all the HTML will be in the same place. v3.0 is due to resume production later this year.

You can certainly adjust the output by editing the 'templates/showcard.tpl.php' file.

Re: Show your Maian Greetings Site!

Thank You for your praise. Working with the source code was very good. The system is structured logically, it
did not cause any disappointment. My visitors are also satisfied. I wish you good luck in the future!

Re: Show your Maian Greetings Site!

Mine is still in it's infancy - so young, it's still on a site I use as a 'sandbox' when I'm creating a new website so I don't muck up the 'real' site.  Right now, it can be seen at www.technutworks.com/ecards. (um...why that?  Figured I'm a tech, I'm nuts, and it works for me <G>).  I'm struggling with pulmonary fibrosis, so I'm working slower than the average bear, but...like the tortoise I plug along!  The background image and color scheme is the one used on www.squaredancepro.com (you can feel free to visit there if you like. it's a square dancing site smile

I'm going to be checking out all y'all's sites as soon as I can.  From the comments I'm reading, I can hardly wait1

Why, it's still work in progress, but especially the last few days I could add a lot of original material (all art will be provided by me, myself and I) and do some changes to the layout. Even though some categories are empty right now, the Google advertising is already paying the bill for my web hosting. :-D

Re: Show your Maian Greetings Site!

Just wanted to share my sites with all of you.
As most would say, "its still a work in progress". I think anyone who owns a website says the same thing no matter what type of site it is.
There is always something new to be done.

Visit my Maian Greetings site here "Greetings From The West Coast"

I didn't see a place to share the Maian Recipe websites so I put it here (hope this is ok) visit my Maian Recipe site here "Recipes With Taste"
I made a background for both sites that is best viewed with a large wide screen.
If this needs to be moved or even taken down because its in the wrong place, let me know.

I offer both scripts and others to my clients if they would like a little activity on their website. I don't charge them for it, its just a benefit of being one of my clients. I think I give away more work then I charge for.

I just can't leave anything alone. When I get a new script I want to try out, I tear it up, break it apart and basically destroy it. Then, re-assemble it.

Hope you enjoy.
Comments of any kind are always welcome.
I am always willing to learn something new.
Thanks again
Michael
