Input fields have characters: \"\" ...won't accept input

Hello,

Thank you very much for your wonderful and creative script, and for sharing it with others.

On the installation on my website ( http://dalailamafilm.com/tell_friend/index.php  ),   the form input fields are not blank, and have these characters:  \"\"

When I typed in information in the fields (whether after the slash and quotes above, or after deleting the slashes and quotes, the form would not rcognize the inputs in the form.

Thank you for your ideas regarding this.

Hi Khashyar,

If you look at your source code you`ll see lots of your HTML is escaped with a slash. How did you upload the files? Try re-uploading them again via FTP in binary mode.

David.

Re: Input fields have characters: \"\" ...won't accept input

Hi David...

Thank you for getting back to me so quickly...

I uploaded the files with a binary/ASCII setting, that uploads images via binary, and html and php via ASCII code...

I appreciate the suggestion, and I will upload the files again in binary.

I thought that in text files, that you should upload them in ASCII mode to prevent errors in the files?

Thank you again for sharing this software, and for answering my question.

Re: Input fields have characters: \"\" ...won't accept input

Hi David,

I reloaded all of the files again, this time in binary mode, and I refreshed the page, and the slashes and quotes still appear.

Any other suggestions?

Thank you again,

Khashyar

Re: Input fields have characters: \"\" ...won't accept input

Hi David,

I see that you mean about the back slashes in the source code of the webpage...

Do you have an idea as to why the backslashes are appearing in the html?

Here are some of the server settings:

Platform Type
Debian

MySQL Version
5.0.45

Perl Version
5.8.8

PHP Version
5.2.2

Thank you again for your help and thoughts,

Khashyar

I also see that the "Add Field" button is not working on the page...

I wonder if that is related?

Re: Input fields have characters: \"\" ...won't accept input

Yes, it will all be related. The slashes are killing the code. I`ve never seen this happen before and I`ve no idea why your site is putting the slashes there. Sorry.

David.

Re: Input fields have characters: \"\" ...won't accept input

Hi David,

Thanks for your thoughts...

Would this issue be related to "Magic_quotes" being turned on or off on my server?

Re: Input fields have characters: \"\" ...won't accept input

Hi David,

I resolved the issue (in case anyone else is having the same problem).

On my website server, the PHP "Magic Quotes" setting was set to "on"

I contacted my webhost and changed the "Magic Quotes" setting to "Off", and everything is working fine now.

Thanks,

Khashyar

Thanks Khashyar. Magic Quotes shouldn`t be a problem with Maian Friend, but glad you sorted it.

David.
