Re: Mp3 play button not showing.

I have a similar problem, but mine is primarily with flv files (mp3 is playing for me).  In settings, I have clicked to enable both the mp3 and the flv flash video players.  Mime types are in place for both.

---  All mp3 files show with the Play, and Get Code buttons (but, not the Download button... should that be showing?).  Clicking Play, launches the player and the mp3 plays.

---  The flv files show with only Download and Get Code buttons (there is no way to Play).

---- Here is my list of Multimedia mime types:
application/x-midi
audio/midi
audio/x-midi
audio/aiff
audio/x-aiff
audio/x-aiff
audio/x-wav
audio/x-realaudio
video/mpeg
audio/mpeg
audio/mpeg2
audio/mpeg3
audio/x-pn-realaudio
audio/x-pn-realaudio-plugin
audio/x-realaudio
application/vnd.rn-realmedia
video/quicktime
video/x-msvideo
application/x-shockwave-flash
video/x-flv

What could I be overlooking?

--- Sam

Re: Mp3 play button not showing.

Hi Sam,

The files are you trying to play have the extension '.flv'?

When you look at the url of the file you are clicking, does it have flv= in the string?

And finally, what mime types are actually being assigned to the uploads?

Re: Mp3 play button not showing.

1.  Yes, they do have the extension .flv

2.   Well, I am not actually clicking the url of the flv file... instead, I am looking for a "Play" button to appear (as it does now for the mp3).  Instead, for the .flv files, I see a "Download" button.  If I click that "Download" button, it starts to download the flv file.  Answering the question, I think you are asking, if  I place the cursor over that Download button, no it does not show flv=, but instead it shows:
   ?cmd=view&download=
I explain my experimentations with that further in the discussion below.

3.  Here are the extensions assigned to the uploads: .gif,.jpg,.pdf,.zip,.doc,.txt,.rtf,.png,.bmp,.mp3,.flv,.mp4
In the admin area there is no place to assign mime types to "uploads," but instead the sections are:  "viewable" and "downloadable" and "multimedia."  The flv mime type is only in the multimedia section.

If I place the cursor over the Play button (which appears when viewing lists of mp3 files)  and then right click and copy the link, it gives this url format:

mydomainname.com/uploader/index.php?cmd=view&mp3=7811341c27feaea15f63fb4c4aa93799c

If I place the cursor over the Download button (which appears when viewing lists of flv files) and right click and copy the link, it gives this url format:

mydomainname.com/uploader/index.php?cmd=view&download=69188adde8e6716fdef4b71a5516cbb76

Then for testing, I took the above copied link for the flv, but changed it to this (just changed the word "download" to "flv"):

mydomainname.com/uploader/index.php?cmd=view&flv=69188adde8e6716fdef4b71a5516cbb76

Then I pasted that changed url (as above) into my browser, immediately it launched the flash player and the video played perfectly.

What is also noteworthy is that the display of files shows the following:

mediatypes1.png.jpg

I have blocked out my domain name only because I don't wish it public yet... but I will give you (David) the link (and full site access) via email, if it would help you to analyze better.  Notice that for the flv it shows the type as: application/octet-stream.

Perhaps, the  the program is not interpreting an flv correctly as a media file, but instead as an application/octet-stream .
