PayPal IPN

It seems Paypal has changed their site and I cannot find out how to set it up now.

Can anybody give me an updated set of instructions, please.

bye

Ronald

Re: PayPal IPN

Hi Ronald,

Yes, they have changed the layout. You need to go to 'Profile > My Selling Preferences' for the IPN (Instant Payment Notifications). Then click 'Update'.

Re: PayPal IPN

Thank you for the quick reply.

I have IPN already enabled for a shopping mall I installed a while ago.
Steps 1 ~ 8 are so completed.

I gone to the sandbox site and have applied for a testing account. There are 4 choices!
1. Buyer (Use to represent your customer's experience)
2. Buyer In-Store (Use to represent your customer's experience with in-store checkout enabled)
3. Seller (Use to represent yourself as the merchant)
4. Website Payments Pro (Use to represent yourself as a merchant using Pro)

Which one(s) do I need? My guess would be (1 or 2) plus (3 or 4)

Am I right to use the 3 or 4 email address in this system and 1 or 2 credit card to purchase?

bye

Ronald

Re: PayPal IPN

You need a merchant account and a customer account. So looks like 1 and 3?

Re: PayPal IPN

Ok, I could manage now to get the two Paypal accounts done.
Since Paypal has their own testing emails I thought I need to use it here also - for payment purposes, which in return ends up in unverified account.
I changed the email address and send the verification again.

*** It would be nice if there is a click to verify in the edit account ***
*** I found now while writing, that setup account would have done the trick ***

The system send me an email with:
Username: test500k
Password: d6401ce47e14e0fcdd582c0576d6d1d9

Tried that and get Invalid ...

I had to change the password! What gone wrong here?

Now I can log in! ;-)

Payment information says:
Not Applicable - Free Account

And at admin Manage Accounts - $:
There is no data for this member. It may be that the Paypal IPN system is disabled or was disabled when this member signed up.

Now the big question, DOES or DOESN'T PayPal IPN work?

BTW, there is a lonely "1" below the Manage Account list. What should it say?

bye

Ronald

Re: PayPal IPN

Ronald,

No idea, sorry. Sounds like something isn`t setup correctly.

Re: PayPal IPN

I tried it again and got a shorter passpord, which worked then.

Maybe the password got too long.
