Thanks David, you saved the day. Your advice solved the issue. And after asking around it turned out that indeed the server was upgraded with a new version of PHP.

I don't know how you do it but your support is from a very high standard with returning an answer so quickly, keep up the good work!

Hi Eddy,

Your error reporting level is set too high. PHP5.3 introduced a new development level of error reporting to show functions that are deprecated in the up and coming PHP6. These errors should show only on a development level. My guess is your server got upgraded recently to a newer version of PHP. These errors will be removed with the next revision, but for now are nothing to worry about.

To remove them, open up both the main 'index.php' file and the admin 'index.php' file in a text editor and set the error reporting level to:

error_reporting(0);

Then I see the Maian Guestbook V3.2 banner, after that I see lot's of:
